Test the fourth prototype between VLANs and Subnetworks
Added by Greg Burri over 15 years ago.
Updated over 15 years ago.
Description
The UDP multicast should be send across VLAN and physical separated subnetworks.
- Test theses two cases and report the conclusion on the prototype wiki page : UDP prototype
- The receiver of an UDP datagram must be able to create a TCP connection with the sender. Check that the IP can be retrieved.
- Tracker changed from Defect to Task
- Target version set to 1.0 alpha
- Assignee set to Maximilien Cuony

Done, everything is ok:
- Multicast pass thought vlans, different subnetworks (192.168.0.1/24 and 192.168.1.1/24 can talk together when they can't with tcp/ip), switches, backbones and pfsense ;)
- Multicast doesn't work when a manual ip is set with ifconfig. I don't know why, but a dhcpd server must be used (just to get the ip), otherwise IP_ADD_MEMBERSHIP return -1.
- Ip is correct.
